[00:00:00] Imagine you've got a decision to make. It could be something simple: changing jobs, leaving a relationship, starting a business, booking a holiday, signing up for that course, speaking up, whatever it is. What's the first thing most of us do? We Google it. We ask our friends. We listen to another podcast. We watch more YouTube videos.
We read another book. We jump on ChatGPT. before we know it, we are an expert on everybody else's opinion except our own. Hi, I'm Nicky Kerman, and welcome to The Practical Mystic Podcast, where universal wisdom meets modern life. I think we often confuse information with clarity.
One of the things I notice is that people often say, "If I just learn one more thing, then I'll know. If I just complete the course, get the certificate, get the degree, get [00:01:00] the piece of paper, then I'll be okay. Then I'll know that I can do this." But information and clarity are not the same thing.
Information fills your mind. Clarity settles your body. They're completely different experiences. I see this every week. Someone comes in, tells me that they've been researching something for six months. They've watched the videos, read the articles, listened to the experts, asked everyone they know for their opinion, and then they say, "I still don't know what to do."
And they come to me for guidance or for clarity. The problem was never that they didn't know what they wanted. The problem is having the courage to follow through with what they want. They're disconnected from their desire, from their truth,
That's what they really come for. And they'll say, "I still don't know [00:02:00] what to do," because the problem was never a lack of information. The problem was disconnection. don't think the biggest challenge today is finding answers. We are literally surrounded by information.
It's filtering that information, that noise that we're constantly consuming, into something that feels honest and true and sits comfortably with where we're at.
A quiet knowing gets drowned out by all the noise and the information Our inner guidance system, gets skewed.
When we lean into others' opinions over our own truth. The gateway to finding clarity is silence or stillness, and for some people, this is so uncomfortable it makes them run for the hills. [00:03:00] So many people say to me, "Oh, I can't meditate, my mind is too busy." They think they're bad at meditating, that they can't sit still.
It's because silence introduces them to themselves, and sometimes that's confronting. When life gets quiet, we notice the emotions underneath the surface. We notice the grief, the uncertainty, the sadness, the hurt, the longing for something else, and the exhaustion
The dreams that we have ignored and the things we know we want to move away from. So, we fill that silence again with distractions, with scrolling, with more information. The difference between wisdom and knowledge is that knowledge is collected, right? We [00:04:00] gather, we bring it in, we go outside of ourselves to find it.
Wisdom is remembered. It comes from inside of us. It's already there. We always have access to higher wisdom when we sit still long enough to listen. That's why you know what you should be doing, but you still don't do it. It's not about knowledge. You know what you need to do It's about having the courage to face that knowledge, to tune into your inner wisdom, and take one small step towards what you want.
I was editing a podcast a couple of weeks ago, and one line I said was, "If we know what we need to be doing why aren't we doing it?" And this has really stuck with me over the last few weeks. I've been thinking about [00:05:00] where am I not actually walking my talk, doing the things that I know I want to be doing.
So, I've taken some time to really pause and consider what it is that I'm not listening to from my own wisdom. What am I not remembering about how I would like my business to be? And so, I've made some big changes over the last few weeks as I've got more clarity from sitting with my own inner wisdom, remembering who I am, remembering the impact that I want to make, and remembering how I can help others remember who they are.
I've realized that my whole body of work over the last fifteen years has always been centred around helping women tune into their intuition and reconnect with their own truth, [00:06:00] and their power. Because if only we knew how powerful we were, we would no longer doubt-
As I've taken time out over the past few weeks, I've realized that No knowledge, no amount of information could tell me who I am, I had to go and find it for myself And as each day passes and I do more meditation and more reflection on my inner world, my outer world is starting to change effortlessly The clarity is arising in my decisions, in my connections with people, and how I'm showing up every single day.
Clarity doesn't usually arrive dramatically. Sometimes we get an aha moment, and it's there in the instant, and we get it. [00:07:00] But often it comes from periods of quietness and stillness and really sitting with what's underneath the noise. People often expect clarity to feel like a giant sign, absolute proof that this is where they should be.
But more often, clarity comes from being incredibly ordinary and still and quiet. It arises in the most subtle ways until it gathers over and over again, all these little whispers, and then you realize, "Ah, that, that is my truth." And a sense of pace comes with that clarity and then the decision unfolds from there with the next right step.
If you feel overwhelmed with a decision, instead of asking, "What should I do?" [00:08:00] Try asking, "What already feels true? What is already true for me right here and now?" So, if you think about changing jobs, should I leave my job? Should I look for something else? Instead of asking, "What does everyone else think?" Ask, "What happens in my body when I imagine each of my options?"
Does my body want to move toward it or away from it? Does it get excited Does it want to back away? Does my body soften and relax and feel at peace with the decision? Or does it tighten and worry and contract?
Do I feel lighter or heavier? Your body notices way before your mind catches [00:09:00] up. Perhaps the answer you were looking for isn't hiding somewhere out there. It's just waiting for you to listen, to tune in, to dig a little deeper because it's quietly waiting underneath the surface and all the noise for you to hear it.
Not because you need to become wiser, because you need to give yourself enough space to hear. Clarity arises in the stillness, in the quiet moments of doing your life in ordinary ways, being open to hearing that, that you truthfully know
No searching, no reaching, just turning your eyes inward and allowing [00:10:00] yourself a moment of stillness to pause, to breathe, to listen If your soul is begging you to listen and you need a little support with that, please reach out and have a soul guidance session with me. One session can help us find that inner wisdom that you've been searching for, find the clarity that you're seeking, and having you move in the direction of your dreams.
